Post Arisia report

Arisia 2008 has past and it was a blast! I won a workmanship award for my Prof. Snape Costume... Best Documentation. That is awesome for my first Masquerade. I'm still a novice costumer but next year I'll have something totally different. I'm still going to be Snape for a while, it's really a comfortable suit to wear and the next movie will be out in the Fall so Snape will be in everyone's minds next Arisia as well. A couple people took pictures of my costume and I want to thank them for letting me use their pics. Batwrangler and Hakamadare on Flickr.com.

I had great fun making the costume. I had ordered 14 yards of black silk noil for the robes and 10 yards of moleskin suede. The robe pattern I based on Yvette's Snape (www.yvettes.net) robes and I sketched it out on paper as well. The suit jacket is based on Butterick's pattern 6844 Men's Robes, but it looks more like a priest's cassock. The pants I basically measured one of my own slacks every which way and made my own pattern sketched on paper. The white under shirt is from Simplicity patter 4219 with the high collar and button front. And the ascot pattern is from eHow website.
